Our Objectives
The Association was formed in July 1995, with the following objectives:
- To promote and maintain the standard and practice of Property and Facility Management
- To advance the status of Property and Facility Manager
- To further advance the education and research in the field of Property and Facility Management jointly with our local tertiary institution
- Develop uniformity in the standard and practice of Property and Facility Management, especially for managing agents under the Land Titles Strata Act
- To establish a professional code of conduct and practice
To meet the above objectives, all our members must meet our minimum education standard of at least a Diploma or Degree in Building/Real Estate or related disciplines. For the category of fellows, they must have at least 5 years of working experiences in a senior position.
As the building stock in Singapore increases tremendously over the last three decades, the importance of Property and Facility Management cannot be over emphasized. Though the authorities have done an excellent job in ensuring a high standard of management and maintenance of our build environment, it is the responsibilities of the professionals to move towards the direction of self-regulations and control. Hence, our Association will provide the platform for meaningful of exchanges among the professionals as well as constructive dialogue with the authorities and other allied professional bodies.
To achieve these objectives, the Association organises seminars, short courses, talks and promotes research with tertiary institutions. The Association has also from time to time, supported companies of related trades and government agencies to promote the standard and practice of Property and Facility Management.
Presently the Association has about a hundred members and is working towards having corporate members in due course.
Apart from looking after the Property and Facility Management interests in Singapore, the Association also intends to encourage members to share their expertise offshore. This is in line with our government's call to continue our regional thrust despite the current economic slow down. In this context, the Association would establish link with similar bodies in this region to facilitate our members. We would also participate actively in relevant seminars/conferences in this region including presentation of papers based on our Singapore experience.
